Over 15 years experience teaching Japanese language and culture in the UK across all settings. I have an undergraduate degree in Japanese and linguistics, a masters in professional voice and have lived in tokyo for a year. I currently teach private 121 Japanese lessons via zoom and have done so for the past year.

My speciality is pronunciation since I have in depth knowledge of phonetics, VPM (voice, place, manner) and of the evolution and etymology of the Japanese language. I teach with these factors in mind and often with cultural tidbits to explain certain linguistic aspects. Since I have gone through a degree in Japanese language I have learned the harder way and thus simplified grammar structures to be digestible and understandable to anyone wishing to learn

Specialised in second language acquisition, acquired teaching qualification (English) up to Japanese high school students as part of my degree. Numerous Japanese teaching experiences in company environments and as a private tutor in the UK since 2005 for both business people and younger students. Have taught all N1 – N5 levels. Work experience in Japan in one of the major insurance companies being customer-faced as a claim adjuster and also being a bilingual PA with interpreter and translator role, I have a good knowledge and understanding of business Japanese. I have TOEIC 955 (2003) and IELTS 7.5 (2005).

I lived in Japan, where I taught English and raised a family, for almost 27 years, and have experience of teaching all ages and levels. On returning to the UK, I worked as an in-house translator /interpreter for a Japanese – owned manufacturing company. I have an MA in Japanese Language Teaching from York St.John University

While I don’t have university degree in English I have completed a B1+ course in English school. Also I am native Japanese speaker; whilst I was living in Ireland I was teaching Japanese to local people.

I am a fully qualified Japanese tutor in Nottinghamshire, whom has been tutoring for several years. I have helped many students whom wanted to learn Japanese as a hobby, for business, for a trip to Japan or towards a qualification.
