With 12 years’ teaching experience across Hong Kong, Hokkaido (Japan), Macau, Shanghai, Shenzhen and in the UK at the University of Liverpool over the past year, I have taught students from primary Grade 1 to university seniors. I switch seamlessly between Chinese, English, and Japanese to suit different learning contexts and student needs.  I hold JLPT N1, Japanese Major Test Band 8, a Chinese Teacher Qualification Certificate, and IBDP teaching certification. My culturally rich, interactive lessons are suitable for learners of all ages—whether for exams, travel, work, or pure enjoyment.

I have over three years of experience tutoring students aged from 14 to 47 in Japanese, physics, economics and maths, with these lessons being in both English and Japanese. My language lessons in particular are tailored to each student’s linguistic abilities, and can help achieve their goals through personalised lessons that suit to their interests. As a person of half Japanese native origin, I appreciate the Japanese culture especially after growing up in Tokyo, then obtaining an N1 in the JLPT before moving to Singapore in high school, then UK for university. With these experiences in both teaching and my personal ties to Japan, I would love to teach Japanese to students.

I have experienced several volunteers  in Japanese classes in the first year of university students, also occasionally teaching Japanese to my friends who study Japanese.

I have been studying in English and spend most of my days just speaking English, therefore I am used to translating Japanese words to English.

I have experience teaching bilingual elementary school students, providing support primarily with their Japanese language skills. This assistance ranged from helping them with their day-to-day schoolwork to addressing specific subjects they found challenging. Additionally, I have worked as a translator, notably for a medical device company where I translated various documents, emails, and files between Japanese and English. Moreover, I translated English leaflets into Japanese for a community supporting individuals affected by homelessness during my time at university. Furthermore, I have over six years of experience practicing calligraphy in Japan, which has improved my proficiency in the different strokes of hiragana, katakana, and kanji.
