With over 9 years of experience living and teaching in Japan, I bring a deep cultural understanding and a passion for helping learners find their unique voice in Japanese. My approach is not just about mastering grammar and vocabulary, it’s about building confidence and creating a safe, supportive space where every student can thrive.

I specialise in 1:1 exam preparation for GCSE Japanese and JLPT N5-N3.  But more recently learners are coming to me with unique goals like boosting a university application or the sheer joy of exploring the Japanese language.  Whether you’re just starting or looking to level up, my classes are designed to engage, challenge, and empower – in ways that work for your brain and your unique goals.

I hold an MA (Hons) in Linguistics from Edinburgh University and a PGCE in the Lifelong Learning Sector. I’ve also earned JLPT N1 (2009), N2 (2007) and trained in The Shichida Method in Japan.
